Hi everyone,

Today I’m sharing a super easy DIY. This wood burning technique does not require any wood burning tools. You’ll just need a pencil eraser and a brown colored pencil.

Time needed:

It took me about 40 minutes to complete this egg

Supplies:

  • light brown colored pencil
  • pencil
  • eraser
  • wood eggs

Step One : Prepping the wood egg!

I first started by adding some tape to the middle and tracing lightly around it with a pencil. I kept the line very mild and not too dark so I can trace it darker with my brown pencil.

I then drew on designs continuing a pattern using the pencil very lightly.

Step 2: Trace with a colored pencil!

Next I used a colored pencil and traced all my designs with it.

Step 3 : Clean up!

I then used an eraser to gently remove any pencil markings. The brown pencil won’t erase as easily. If it comes off in some areas it’s ok. I feel like it being lighter in some areas gave it more character.

That’s it!

Faux Wood Burned eggs!

I love how easy this DIY is. You can use this technique on so many other wood projects! If you want to seal in the colored pencil you can use matte mod podge.

That’s all for this quick and easy DIY!  I hope this inspires you to make some beautiful designs with this faux wood burning technique.

Best Wishes,

Lily
