Spring Is In The Air

So every year I have this spring fever thing!!?. Right after the snow melts and the first wave of heat hits I become GARDEN OBSESSED. I’m assuming I’m probably not the only one making a trip to home depot every other day 😉 I have been buying house plants for the past couple of days!!. Ok to be honest, I suck at gardening. Love the results…DON’T have the patients. Every time I talk about gardening my husband smirks. lol 😀 I don’t blame the guy. I’ve tried for years and epicly failed. The only thing I can grow faithfully is zucchini but, you can’t kill those things even if you tried… 😀 That’s probably why I’m so good at growing them..hehe. 😀

Chalk Label Planters

We had so much fun making these cute little planters. For years I’ve wanted an indoors herb wall and I’m super excited that my hubby agreed to help make one soon.  So to add to our soon to be herb wall we’ve decided to do a little project with Oleg.  We wanted something spring themed, and who doesn’t love pastels in the spring??.. That’s another weakness I have in the spring time. I’ll take shoes, purses, doors, cars, hair, anything pastel. I guess I should say I become pastel obsessed. 😉 hehe.  So to add to my pastel spring fever we made these pastel planters. These DIY planters are super easy to make and we even made our own chalk paint to write cute little descriptions for our herbs.

What you’ll need

We made a trip to the dollar tree and got a bunch of pots. ( 2 for $1) What a steal !! 😀 Love DOLLAR TREE. I know home depot had their smallest pots priced at 87 cents..Which isn’t so bad. We also purchased our potting mix from the dollar tree. We’ll see how that goes.. I didn’t know they even sold that kind of stuff their 😀 I will definitely give you guys updates with pictures in the next couple of weeks to show how our seedlings are sprouting. The most exciting part..hehe  (update— They all died. I don’t know if it was because of the cheap soil, but we didn’t get any herbs)

We used regular craft paint from walmart and mixed our own pastel colors. We started off by painting all of the pots a solid color.

Once that coat dried we painted a white line along the bottom of the pots.

To make them more fun we added some art with a sharpie. (or you could use black paint)

Then we made our own chalk board paint and painted little strips for the descriptions. To make the paint we used one spoon of COLD water and added Plaster of Paris until it was a pudding like consistency. Then we added 1/4 cup of acrylic black paint and mixed it well. (“plaster of paris ” is sold of homedopet. lowes, walmart)
